Meet the new Patek Philippe Reference 6007G, in three different colors: yellow (ref. 6007G-001), red (6007G-010), and blue (6007G-011). It's similar to the limited-edition 6007A that Patek released back in 2020 to celebrate the opening of its new manufacturer, but now it's in white gold, not steel. Unlike that model, the new 6007G uses Patek's newer-generation movement, the caliber 26-330 S C.

On the vintage Astronaut, the time was set by a recessed key on the case back which would be flipped up and twisted, leaving no trace of a crown on the watch's profile from any angle. Here, Accutron recessed the crown into the side of the case so it tucks under the bezel to keep the aesthetic when viewed from the front and the half sapphire case back mimics the shape of that original key while leaving space for the engravings for which of the 300 watches you have.
For those curious, F.A.T. was previously a European logistics company with a penchant for automotive sponsorships (including two LE Mans-winning cars). Recently, the brand has been relaunched by Ferdi, and part of the portfolio includes events like Ice Race.
If you take a closer look at the watch, pretty much every component is ultrathin. Ok so it's 40mm in diameter, but it's a mere 6.40mm in height. From the hour markers and skeleton hands, all the way through to the bracelet links. Every element conveys the same message of thinness.
That might have been true back then for mechanical watches. But these days, function schmunction – we all know quartz does the job better. If mechanical watches have a function in 2021, it’s less about telling the time and more about prodding us to embrace romantic impracticality. And judged by that criteria, this watch is as functional as it’s ever been.
